Message from Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, Principal of Mesrobian School, on the Occasion of the Feast of the Holy Translators
Dear Mesrobian Students,
Today, we celebrate one of the most significant and inspiring feasts in the history of our people: the Feast of the Holy Translators.
More than 1,600 years ago, Saint Mesrob Mashdots, in collaboration with Catholicos Saint Sahak Bartev, created the Armenian alphabet, opening a new chapter in the history of our nation.
The invention of the Armenian alphabet was far more than the creation of a writing system. It marked the beginning of a national and cultural renaissance, empowering our people to think, write, pray, and preserve their identity in their mother tongue.
Dear Students,
Today, as the world changes at an unprecedented pace and technology and artificial intelligence open new horizons before us, preserving our mother tongue and national values has become more important than ever.
You have the privilege of attending a school that bears the name of Saint Mesrob Mashdots. Yet this name is not only a source of honor; it also carries a profound responsibility.
Being a Mesrobian student means not only striving for academic excellence and achieving success, but also loving our language, knowing our history, and taking pride in our identity.
Always remember that it is possible to learn many languages, master the latest technologies, embrace the world, and achieve great success without ever forgetting our mother tongue or our roots.
Armenian is not merely a school subject. It is the expression of our identity, the living witness of our history, and the invisible bond that connects us to our ancestors and to Armenians living across the globe.
Dear Mesrobian Students,
Today's message is addressed first and foremost to you.
You are tomorrow's thinkers, creators, writers, scientists, and innovators who will continue to think and create in Armenian.
Do not be content merely with preserving the heritage that has been passed down to you. Strive to enrich it through your knowledge, ideas, and creativity.
Do not be afraid to express new ideas, explore new paths, and discover new horizons through the Armenian language.
Remember that the Holy Translators were themselves great innovators of their time. They had the courage to open new doors of knowledge, faith, and wisdom for their people.
Today, that same courage and creative spirit are expected of you.
For the true heir of the Holy Translators is not the one who merely admires their achievements, but the one who continues and enriches their legacy.
Therefore, my message to you today is simple:
Love the Armenian language, speak Armenian, read in Armenian, pray in Armenian, and take pride in your Armenian identity.
Be curious, hardworking, creative, and open to new knowledge and ideas. But wherever life takes you and whatever success you achieve, never forget your roots.
Remember that the future of our people also rests in your hands, and it is you who will carry forward the great mission begun by Saint Mesrob Mashdots and the Holy Translators.
May the Armenian alphabet enlighten your minds, may the Armenian language always be spoken upon your lips, and may our faith and culture remain firmly rooted in your hearts.
Happy Feast of the Holy Translators!
Long live the Armenian alphabet! Long live the Armenian language! Long live the Armenian school! And long live Mesrobian!
