With the Support of the French Government and L’Œuvre d’Orient
At the invitation of the French Embassy in Lebanon and the L’Œuvre d’Orient organization, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, Principal of the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School, participated in a working meeting dedicated to developing the school's psycho-social services for students on September 16, 2026, accompanied by Mr. Zaven Tghlian, Head of the school's Psycho-Social Services Office.
Representatives from the Howard Karagheusian Foundation and the "Oum el Nour" organization—both with a long and distinguished track record in Lebanon’s health and psychosocial services sectors—attended the meeting held at the Institut Français.
During the meeting, the program to be implemented at Mesrobian in the upcoming academic year was finalized, which aims to expand efforts focused on the students' physical and mental health, psychological well-being, and social development.
The program is funded by the French government and the L’Œuvre d’Orient organization. Since 1856, the latter has been providing support to Christians in the East and vulnerable populations in the areas of education, healthcare, social assistance and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Regarding the implementation, the Howard Karagheusian Foundation will undertake programs focused on the physical and mental health of the students. Medical check-ups will be conducted for students, as well as for staff and parents. Specialists from the Foundation will regularly visit the school to monitor the students' psychological and social needs and provide appropriate support when necessary.
The "Oum el-Nour" organization, for its part, will carry out work aimed at the prevention of addictions. Workshops and events will be organized for students to familiarize them with the nature and consequences of smoking, drug use, alcohol consumption, gambling and other forms of addiction, as well as to help them recognize the dangers and develop the necessary awareness to avoid falling into these traps.
For many years, Mesrobian has prioritized the social and psychological development of its students, as well as the identification and resolution of the challenges they face. This new program represents a significant further step in these efforts. It will integrate with similar ongoing initiatives at Mesrobian—specifically the "Mesrobian Cares" program and other activities of the socio-psychological service office—thereby creating a more coordinated and comprehensive approach.
Mesrobian believes that the social and psychological well-being of students is directly linked to their academic progress and future success in life. Appropriate support provided during the school years also serves as a crucial foundation for continuing education in adulthood, succeeding in one's professional life and building a healthy, productive social life.
