Under the patronage and in the presence of Lebanon’s First Lady, Mrs. Nehmat Aoun, a recognition ceremony was held on June 18, 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Baabda to mark the successful completion of the first year of the nationwide “School of Citizenship” program.
Among the 150 public and private schools from across Lebanon that participated in the initiative, the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School distinguished itself through its active and committed involvement. Representing the school at the ceremony was its Principal, Mr. Grégoire Kaloust. Notably, five Lebanese-Armenian schools were among the 150 participating institutions honored during the event.
The gathering also served as an occasion to recognize and celebrate the achievements accomplished throughout the academic year. School principals and program coordinators highlighted the progress made in fostering civic awareness, democratic values, and the principles of coexistence among students. The First Lady, who initiated the program, together with the participants, reaffirmed their determination and commitment to continue and expand this vital initiative in the coming years. The number of participating schools is expected to increase to 300 next year.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the principals of the participating schools were awarded commemorative medals specially created for the occasion, in recognition of their significant efforts and dedication. The distinction also paid tribute to the resilience demonstrated by schools despite the challenging circumstances faced by the country.
