Today, Mesrobian High School hosted writer and scholar Shoghig Kaloussian (Ph.D.), who met with students in grades 3 and 4 to present her bilingual children’s book, “Loucine and the Doll That Walked to Aleppo,” about the Armenian Genocide.
The book tells the bitter reality of the Armenian Genocide through the eyes of a child, Loucine, and her beloved doll, creating a sensitive narrative that is intended to make the historical reality of that greatest tragedy accessible to young people. The bilingual format of the book helps making it accessible to a wide audience, connecting new generations with historical memory.
During the meeting and in a warm and engaging atmosphere, the students listened with interest to the author’s presentation, participated in the question-and-answer session, and became closely acquainted with the content and message of the book. Mrs. Kaloussian presented signed copies to a group of students who participated in the question-and-answer session with greater enthusiasm.
With such initiatives, our school contributes to the strengthening of national identity and historical awareness among Armenian children from an early age.
