On Friday, December 1st, 2023, at 7:00 p. m., the solemn ceremony of lighting Mesrobian High School’s Christmas tree took place in the school's main courtyard.

The ceremony began with festive music played by the brass band of the St. Savior Church, after which the opening speech was delivered by Mrs. Salpy Moughalian, who she said that by the ceremony of lighting the Christmas tree, we celebrate the birth of light in our lives and in our souls. The light that inspires hope at the end of the dark road, through which we will be guided to a safe shore and which we seek for warmth on cold days. May the glow of this Christmas tree serve as a reminder of the eternal and lasting light of Jesus Christ residing in all of us, which is the beginning of Divine love and human unity, Ms. Moughalian concluded.
In the artistic part, the Dzidzernag Choir performed two songs, the students Jean-Pierre Vartanian, Kevin Solakian, Hagop Andonian, Nayiri Arnelian and Mark Gulgulian played pieces themed on Christmas, whereas Jessica Khasholian performed a solo song. Then the Mesrobian Christmas tree was lit by the mayor of Bourj Hammoud, Mr. Mardig Boghossian, amid the applause of the audience.
In his speech, Mesrobian’s Principal, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, referred to the symbolic meaning of light, which is related to education, enlightenment and purity of mind and soul. He said that the children of the Armenian nation are the genuine heirs of St. Gregory the Illuminator, the father of the Armenian faith, and will follow his path wherever they are. Welcoming the presence of the mayor of Bourj Hammoud, Mr. Kaloust said that Mesrobian is one of the legal components of this city, which is the beating heart of the entire Armenian diaspora, and is ready to take his active participation in the works of the municipality for the preservation and development of its Armenian character.
