On May 26, 2023, the students of the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School celebrated the May 28th Independence Day of Armenia and evoked the memory of the heroes who made the centuries-old dream of the Armenian people to re-establish their independent state in their motherland come true.
Mesrobian's students gathered for this event in the main courtyard of the school, in front of St. Mesrob’s memorial statue and under the Armenian flag. Many of them were holding pictures and slogans expressing the message of the day. This event was attended by the spiritual leader of the school, Reverend Father Raffi Hovhannessian, as well as the assistants of the of the St. Savior Church parish priest, Father Sahag Keshishian and Father Vartan Jalluf.
The ceremony was opened with the Armenian anthem, which was sung by Mesrobian's KG2 students. In the opening speech, Vana Seferian said that the Armenian people will never give up their legitimate rights and will take back the confiscated territories of Artsakh, in the spirit of the May victories.
As for the artistic part, a large group of students performed songs, music as well as recitations inspired by the message of the day.
In his speech addressed to the students, Mesrobian’s Principal, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, emphasized that the current unfavorable situation in Armenia and Artsakh should not make us lose hope, but on the contrary, it should become an occasion for unity, so that the Armenian people could face all threats with the Sartarabad spirit.
At the end, the choir performed the ‘Sartarabad’ song, which was sung as a praise to the heroes who established May 28 and the Armenian people who gave birth to them, as well as a tribute to all the martyrs of the past and present who died for the motherland.
