
On the evening of Thursday, the 15th of September, 2005,
Mrs. Sigma HUDA, one of the high-ranking responsibles of
United Nations International Labor Organization with the companionship of
Mrs. Sossi Sagherian, the director of the
Boulghourdjian socio-medical center of the
Lebanese Armenian Red Cross, and other central and regional responsibles, visited Armenian Catholic Mesrobian Technical College to be introduced to the educational condition of juveniles at Mesrobian School.
The newly arrived, high-ranking guest from Geneva, who is a member of the office of
United Nation's General Secretary Koffy Anan, got closely interested in the realization of the plans at Mesrobian Technical College, and especially with the courses that are offered to the 12-17 year old youngsters' education and crafts' instruction. Mrs. Houda highly appreciated Mesrobian Technical College's service to these youngsters' education that she got generally acquainted with while meeting with Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, Mesrobian's principal. And from the member of the guest delegation, Dr. Nabil Watfa, a technical adviser at ILO, appreciated the existing cleanliness and organization at Mesrobian as unsurpassed. He also expressed of such a high-standard school in Lebanon.
Let us notify that the cooperation between Mesrobian Technical College and ILO was established through the Lebanese Armenian Red Cross Association.
In the last years, to lift up children's labor and to meet the needs of youngsters who have left school early and to meet the needs for their instruction, there was created a cooperation between ILO and Lebanese Armenian Red Cross through which the Lebanese Armenian Red Cross enabled to transfer money to many technical schools, to be able to meet the needs for the instruction of these youngsters.
During the visit, it was confirmed that during the following years, the cooperation between ILO and Lebanese Armenian Red Cross would be continued for the sake of schools like Mesrobian Technical College and for the benefit of the youngsters who have left school early, for their general education, for their technical education, and for their instruction in many specialized fields.
