On Friday, the 15th of April 2011, the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School celebrated its traditional �Mesrobian Day� organized by Mesrobian Alumni Committee. �Mesrobian Day� came to be a special holiday, in other words, a day of rest.

In the morning, the students who were gathered in the schoolyard sang the Lebanese and Armenian national anthems as well as Mesrobian official anthem. Then, they prayed the Lord�s Prayer together with Father Sarkis Tavitian, the parish priest of St. Savior Church.


After that, the chairman of Mesrobian Alumni Committee Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian addressed his speech to the students and wished them all a joyful day. Then, the school Principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust made a speech in which he appreciated a lot the initiative taken by Mesrobian Alumni Committee, particularly the regular and meticulous works done by the chairman Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian and his co-workers for the great success of this event.

Then, the students of all classes participated in the inter-class athletic competitions, particularly the football and basketball competitions that started with great enthusiasm and in the end the winners were awarded corresponding medals and cups that were delivered by the school principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust and the chairman of Mesrobian Alumni Committee Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian.


Beside all this, there was the �active bee-hive� which was the food corner organized by the ladies of the parents� committee. It is important to mention that most of the foods were prepared with great pleasure by many parents of our school and we are therefore very thankful to them.

The athletic games were followed quickly by the talented students� performances. Like every year, this year too the school students had a chance to give different artistic performances like singing, dancing, reciting, acting, etc. In this way, Mesrobian Day became also a day for manifesting different artistic talents.


The students could also exercise on a �trampoline� all day long. Moreover, they participated in an interesting painting work and in the end they obtained the picture of a huge screen.

And the 12th grade students had organized a lottery that was a lucky charm for many of them.


Also, joyful kermis games were prepared thanks to their common efforts.

The school 12th grade students Sarkis Halladjian and Tsoline Shahinian were in charge of the event of the day.


They invited on stage members of the school administrative staff Isabelle Levonian, Esther Nurpetlian, Liza Svadjian, Garine Tashjian, Seta Simidian and they honored them with a beautiful bunch of flowers after giving thanks to them for their organized and hard work.

They also gave thanks to all the members of Mesrobian Alumni Committee for organizing this beautiful day and they gave a special thanks to the school principal. �Mesrobian Day� began at 8: 00 AM and lasted till 2:00 PM, during which there was a joyful and festive atmosphere at school.


The day, which was different from the school ordinary days, came to an end by leaving behind unforgettable moments of joy and happiness.

Let�s mention that �Voice of Van� radio station reported also news about Mesrobian Day, by broadcasting live an interview with the school principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, the chairman of Mesrobian Alumni Committee Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian, the director of the extracurricular activities of the school Mrs. Garine Tashjian and a 12th grade student Sarkis Halladjian and one of the students from the intermediate section Nayira Baghdassarian.

As if the day ended quickly, for this day wasn�t like the school ordinary days that seem endless. Both the teachers and the students were happy.
