On Tuesday, the 18th of May 2010, at 8:00 PM in the evening, a large number of people were gathered in the schoolyard of the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School to participate in the solemn ceremony of distribution of diplomas to the graduates of the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School and Mesrobian Technical College for the school year 2009-2010. The honorable president of the day was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon, Mr. Ashot Kocharian who absented himself from the ceremony for a rational reason. He was represented by the first secretary of the embassy, Mr. Vartan Atamian.


After listening to the Armenian and Lebanese national anthems as well as Mesrobian School�s official anthem, the school principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust made a speech in which he said that the graduates� parents are the first to have the right to be happy, proud and satisfied because they are the ones who, with their big sacrifices and self-deprivation and in spite of their comfort and even their health and the increased number of difficulties in the everyday life, they made their children arrive to a place where they are going to obtain authentic diplomas for their long years of studies. Then, the principal spoke to the graduates and congratulated them on obtaining the diploma of Mesrobian and declared that at the end of the ceremony they are going to leave the stage with sadness and leave the school with turbulent feelings. He also ensured that they are going to make their way towards larger horizons with bravery and self-confidence, in order to obtain higher degrees.


At the end of his speech, the school principal delivered the diplomas. From last year, this ceremony became a tradition for the school. Mr. Kaloust, along with the chairman of Mesrobian Alumni Committee, Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian, delivered a certificate to Ani Tarpinian, a 12th Grade student who obtained the highest average in the courses taken in Armenian. The principal also declared about the prize offered by the municipality of Bourj Hammoud, which was going to be delivered for the first time this year to the 12th Grade students, both from scientific and philosophy sections, who obtained the highest global average. On this occasion, the prizes were delivered to the students Karine Fermanian and Marina Tcheulmekian. Then, the graduates started their program on stage by singing the � Song of Faith �. Tamar Sarkissian, a student from Mesrobian Technical College and some graduates from Mesrobian High School, Viviane Boghossian, Serge Keshishian and Marina Cheulmekian made a speech in Armenian, Arabic, English and French.


From the Art section, one of the graduates, Ani Tarpinian recited the poem �We� by Kevork Emine. The graduates succeeded in presenting the �Gipsy� dance. The graduates from the Technical College Ani Toutiguian and Garine Keshishian sang the French song � Tu es mon autre �. Kevork Keshishian played on the flute the � Warrior�s Song �. In addition, a movie prepared by the graduates and entitled � Promo 2010 � was shown. The graduates also performed an Armenian dance.

Then, the responsible for the school extracurricular plans, Garine Minasian-Tashjian read the greeting speech of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia, in which Mr. Kotcharian had written the following: �Today is a joyful and solemn day for you, for the school personnel of pedagogy and for all the graduates. Once again, the results of long years of hard work are being summarized and new horizons are appearing in the graduates� life. I am persuaded that the future assistance given by the graduates will always make happy the teachers and will oblige them to be more responsible for the education of the young generation�.

After passing on the ambassador�s speech, Mesrobian Shield was transmitted to the 11th Grade students. The ceremony was followed by the song � The Last Bell � performed by the graduates in addition to the solemn ceremony of the distribution of diplomas by His Excellency Bishop Vartan Ashkarian and the school principal Mr. Gregoire Kaloust. In addition to the diplomas, they received a copy of �Mesrobian Messenger� dedicated especially to the graduates. After cutting the cake, the graduates received the congratulations of the people who were there, than they went to � Coral Beach � hotel to continue celebrating in one of its beautiful halls.
