On Friday, the 27th of August 2010, at 7:00 PM, the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian Technical College organized the closing ceremony of
�Oasis� summer program for children in the municipality playground of Bourj Hammoud, in the presence of
Msgr. Vartan Ashkarian, M.P. Hagop Pakradouni, mayor of Bourj Hammoud Antranig Meserlian, representatives of involved committees, spiritual fathers, educational supervisors, parents and thousands of Armenians.
In the beginning of the ceremony, the �Oasis� students entered the playground on parade, accompanied by their group leaders and assistants. Then, the ceremony began with the Lebanese and Armenian national anthems. After that,
the general supervisor of �Oasis� program Caroline Terzian made a speech in which she mentioned that � it is this mutual confidence that makes �Oasis� successful and continuous�.
Terzian emphasized that the students who participate in the summer program, spend pleasant and very useful times in a healthy Armenian educational atmosphere through various kinds of programs. Caroline Terzian thanked all who participated in making �Oasis� a successful program.
During the ceremony, the Oasis students presented a beautiful and well-organized artistic program. The students performed �Go Africa�, �La Bamba�, �Hzor Hayastan�, �Esperado�, �Ola � ole� and other dances. Some �Oasis� groups played Kung Fu and Aikido. The �Oasis� choir sang two national songs. And some groups played basketball and football by creating a joyful atmosphere in the playground.
Let�s mention that �Oasis� groups were carrying the names of the Armenian regions, cities and mountains (�Dvin�, �Sartarabad�, �Aragats�, �Ararat�, �Erzurum��). More than 300 students were participating in the 12th �Oasis� summer program organized by more than 65 educational supervisors.
The last dance of the ceremony was presented by all �Oasis� students who performed � Menq Enq Mer Sarere � dance. At the end of the closing ceremony,
the principal of the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School Gregoire Kaloust made a speech.
The principal said that �Oasis� is a big Armenian family who makes us proud and welcomes Armenian students coming from foreign as well as other countries. Kaloust emphasized that �Oasis� will remain faithful to its motto, so that the students receive an Armenian education, speak and pray in Armenian and live in an Armenian atmosphere.
