Friday, the 14th of May, 2010, was a great event for the Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School. �
Mesrobian Day� which is a special holiday was celebrated for the fifth consecutive year and was organized by
Mesrobian Alumni Committee.
In the morning, the students who were gathered in the schoolyard sang the Armenian and Lebanese national anthems as well as Mesrobian school�s official anthem. Then, along with the parish priest of St. Savior Church,
Father Sarkis Tavitian, they prayed the Lord�s Prayer. After that, the school principal,
Mr. Gregoire Kaloust spoke to the students and appreciated the initiative taken by Mesrobian Alumni Committee, particularly its chairman,
Dr. Gosdan Yapoudjian and his co-workers for their meticulous and continuous work so that this plan becomes an excellent success.
In his turn, the chairman of Mesrobian Alumni Committee, Dr. Yapoudjian wished them all a joyful day and after giving special thanks to all the members of Mesrobian Alumni Committee for working hard for this day, he also gave special thanks to the school principal, the assiduous ladies of the parents� committee as well as the students who realized all together the � Mesrobian Day � which was full of interesting athletics inter-class competitions, sections for showing and exhibiting different talents for fine arts in addition to kermes joyful games. That day, a kiosk for food and beverages was established in the schoolyard and was supervised by the members of the parents� committee. Also, many teachers of the elementary division of Mesrobian High School were of great help to them.
� Mesrobian Day � started at 8:00 AM in the morning and lasted till 2:00 PM in the afternoon. There was a joyful and festive atmosphere in the school.
The groups who won the athletics competitions were granted special cups which were given by the school principal, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust and the actual and former chairmen of Mesrobian Alumni Committee, the two doctors Gosdan Yapoudjian and Krikor Edjidian.
This year also, the program carried a surprise. Mesrobian Alumni Committee had organized the Armenian Song contest in which participated many students from the school. The student who won the contest was Nayira Baghdasarian who was granted a special award. The day reached its end soon. This day was not similar to the school ordinary days that seem to be endless. Both the teachers and the students were happy.
