I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. If you had known me, from now on, you know him, and have seen him. He who has seen me has seen the Father. I am in the Father and the Father in me.
On Saturday, the 8th of May 2010, at 4:00 PM in the afternoon, 45 Mesrobian angels, dressed in white, were gathered in the
Armenian Catholic St. Savior Church to participate in a soul-stirring and solemn ceremony for which they were waiting impatiently and for a long time. The church was full of spiritual fathers, school teachers, parents and friends who shared in their joy.
The children brought with them wheat and grape to be sanctified by becoming the body and the blood of
Jesus Christ. Before they receive the sacraments, the priest of the day said to our children as Jesus said to his apostles:
Take this, and share it among yourselves, for I tell you, I will not drink at all again from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God comes. This is my body which is given for you, do this in memory of me. This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you (Luke: 22).
The holy mass of the First Communion was celebrated by
His Excellency Bishop Hovhannes Teyrouzian, along with the parish priest of St. Savior Church
Father Sarkis Tavitian, as well as the assistant parish priest
Father Sebouh Garabedian.
45 young and innocent children prayed in the church like a saint and sang spiritual hymns. By saying
I come to you, Jesus, they received the body and blood of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, by dedicating their heart and soul forever to Him.
After the spiritual ceremony of the First Communion, special souvenirs were delivered to the children who received the sacraments. Then, they were all gathered in the hall of St. Savior Church, where a well-arranged hospitality was done and the congratulations were received.
