The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia organized the 4^th Pan-Armenian Youth Olympiad on the Armenian Language and Literature and an Armenian studies competition from 10 to 17 July 2009 at the Arno Babajanian Concert Hall in Yerevan, Armenia.

133 schoolchildren from the USA, Estonia, Bulgaria, Iran, Lebanon, Russia, Serbia, Georgia, Ukraine, Mountainous Karabakh and Armenia participated in this year’s Olympiad. The Olympiad, which is held every 2 years, is aimed at encouraging the knowledge of Armenian Language, Literature, History and Culture by Armenian children and teenagers who live abroad, and to enable them to learn more about Armenia.

In response to the participation invitation, the Directors' Committee of the Armenian Catholic Schools in Lebanon has sent a group of 6 students from Mesrobian, Hripsimiantz and Kevork Harboyan high schools. The two Mesrobian students participating to this Olympiad were Ani Tarpinian and Antranik Kasbarian. These were the only students participating from Lebanon.

During the tournament, which was held on individual basis, Antranik Kasbarian was awarded two prizes: "Best Composition" and "Good Knowledge in Armenology". His prizes were handed over by the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, Armen Ashodian.
