On Thursday 27 and Friday 28 August, 2009, Mesrobian Technical College proudly held its end-of-season celebrations of
Oasis Summer Program 2009.
Oasis 2009 Summer Program lasted
more than 8 weeks. This year, the children were divided into 2 age groups:
Big Masis and
Little Masis. Each group comprised
more than 200 children.
The end-of-season celebration of the Little Masis was held on 27th of August. The celebration started with the Lebanese and Armenian national hymns. Following that,
Mrs. Caroline Terzian, the head responsible of Oasis Summer Program, addressed the opening speech to the audience. An artistic program followed, where the students chanted, danced and performed Kong Fu show.
Next day, the 28th of August, the Big Masis had its celebration. The celebration of Big Masis was
a "wedding" in Armenian tradition. There was the "bride", the "groom" as well as all the members of the "families". They performed Armenian, Arabic, and European wedding songs and dances. The Lebanese-Armenian singer,
Hrach Gaydzaguian, was also invited to this "wedding".
The closing speeches for both celebrations was addressed by
Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, the principal of Mesrobian school. He stressed on the importance that Oasis Summer Program plays in the Lebanese Armenian community, enabling the Armenian students to have a rewarding summer vacation. At the end of his speeches, he thanked the main benefactors of Oasis,
