This year the students of Mesrobian High School celebrated St. Vartan's holiday in different days in a peculiar way. The celebration started on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. That day, the students of the secondary school, Sec. I, Sec. II and Sec. III graders gathered in the Farajian Auditorium, to listen to that day's lecturer, who was specially invited by the principal of the school to participate in the celebrations of St. Vartan's Holiday. The opening speech was done by the principal, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust who explained the connection of the DVD to be shown, with the heroic battle of St. Vartan. The DVD that was shown to the students was dedicated to the Artzakh survival-battle. It was a valid document of the events that occurred from the year 1988 until the end of the Artzakh fighting.

The speech of the lecturer followed the DVD-show. Mr. Shahan Kandaharian, the president of the Aztag newspaper, conferred to the students. After greeting them heartily, he explained to them the reasoning of the student from his small age till he reached the university. Mr. Shahan said that Vartanantz is the accuracy date of the Armenian attitude. But today's Hazgerds are Turkey and Azerbaijan. And new Vartans are needed to strive, always clinging to our faith and culture. After the closure to the lecturer's speech, in the name of the students, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust thanked Mr. Kandaharian for his useful and interesting lecture.

The following day, on Wednesday January 30, 2008, the students of the Intermediate 1, 2 and 3 grades were gathered in the same auditorium, and they watched the same DVD. Then, the president of Hamazkayeen's Levon Shant Center started his speech and insisted on the role that the martyrs of a nation play, saying that "The Vartans are the ones who build a nation's and people's history and fate". Reflecting on the individual of Vartan Mamigonian, Mr. Demirdjian said, "Talking about Vartan Mamigonian, we don't talk about a man who has come and passed away, but we talk about a man who has built the Armenian history". Henceforth continuing Mr. Demirdjian said, "By his character, Vartan Mamigonian is the essential representative of his people's countenance. He was martyred bravely and all the other martyrs followed in his track, like Kevork Tchaoush and others, and even Hrant Dink". Closing his speech, the lecturer wished that the Armenian students "Recognize our history and walk in the path of St. Vartan".
The principal of the school expressed his gratitude to the lecturer, Mr. Demirdjian and addressing the students, he specially expressed his desire that in the future the students would resemble Vartan, our nation's hero and live likewise and try to be a Vartan themselves. Then, the principal instructed the students to go towards the school yard, where the monument of St. Mesrob Mashdotz is established. There, they received blessing from the book that was in the hand of St. Mesrob and that which includes the Armenian Alphabet. The students swore to remain loyal to the national values that they had inherited from their forefathers, to cherish the Armenian language always remembering the history of their nation and clinging firmly to the national roots and to their religion, similar to what the heroes at Vartanantz did.
The students of the first, second and third elementary grades participated in the drawing competition dedicated to St. Vartan's holiday. Among the best drawings, Andre-Vahe Doumanian, Sybel Yapoujian and Haig Tabakian received the first, second and the third prizes. And for the students of the fourth, fifth and sixth elementary grades a different contest was established. They were given a composition with the topic "Meeting with the brave Vartan Mamigonian, for a day". The writers of the best compositions were Rita Tekeyan, Sirag Toranian and Chantal Isahagian. They became the first, second and the third prize winners.
And in this way ended the enterprises dedicated to the heroic battle of St. Vartan, a series of unforgettable events that the students of Mesrobian School enjoyed greatly.
