On Saturday night, July 12, at 8:00pm, the
25th Anniversary graduation ceremony for the year 2007-2008 took place in the schoolyard of Armenian Catholic Mesrobian Technical College, patronized by
Mr. Varouj Nerguizian.
After the ceremonial entrance of the graduating students, the Lebanese and Armenian national anthems were played. The presenter of the event,
Mr. Aram Karadaghelian invited the principal of the college
Mr. Gregoire Kaloust to give his speech.
Mr. Kaloust greeted the audience in Armenian and English languages honoring the President of the ceremony Varouj Nerguizian, whose relationship towards the college has always been sincere. He announced that a new and modern library will be wide open for the elementary students next year. This library will be named in memory of the father of Mr. Varouj Nerguizian: "
Abraham Nerguizian Library".
Directing his word to the graduates, Mr. Kaloust revealed that they are lucky to be part of this year's harvest because they will receive their diplomas during college's
25th anniversary's jubilee ceremony. He encouraged them to rush into different business careers and get even higher degrees.
He also thanked the teachers affirming that this ceremony is the fruit of their sacrifice and hard work.
In the name of the graduates, speeches were held by
Masis Khacherian, in Armenian;
Julie Bakhos, in Arabic; and
Rosaline Aghvorian, in English. They all promised that they will become successful specialists with their fields, in honor of Mesrobian Technical College's name. They showed gratitude and thankfulness to their teachers and the principal for their tolerance and labor.
The President of the jubilee ceremony, Mr. Varouj Nerguizian, directed his speech to the graduates emphasizing the importance of belonging to Mesrobian Technical College that intend to reach higher levels, to persist, and never give up. More and above, he encouraged the students to build their destiny by their own hands, through
prayers and trusting God's interference in their own lives. He terminated his speech announcing the establishment of new the fund. This fund will also be named in memory of his father "
Abraham Nerguizian Fund". The fund will be fully consecrated for Mersobian's needy students, providing the sum of
USD 50 000 (fifty thousand U.S. Dollars) each year.
During the ceremony, a documentary film was shown named "
The Golden Bracelet", authored by
Mr. Vartan Tashjian. There were also art performances: the "
Faiha" Choir from Tripoly and the "
Hamazkayin Kousan" choir performed together, and were conducted by
Mr. Barkev Taslakian; also the "
Armenian Dance" dance group performed Armenian and Bohemian dances.
At the end of the ceremony,
93 graduates received their diplomas.
