On the evening of April 6, 2006, Mesrobian High School organized "solid waste turned to artwork" exhibition, in collaboration with the international World Vision organization. The exhibition was held in the Boghossian Hall and was prepared by kindergarten students of Mesrobian. Mrs Maguy Daoud, director of the Armenian Office of World Vision Lebanon sponsored the event. More than 250 toys made of solid waste, including souvenirs and other usefull gadgets were presented to a large number of guests, staff, parents and friends.
In the opening speech, Mrs Shoghig Yepremian highlighted some of the responsabilities that Armenian schools have, other than the responsabilities of schools in Lebanon: teaching Armenian language, Armenian history and Armenian culture to the students. "And today," said Mrs. Shoghig, "we are adding a new responsability: Teaching economy". Then, she invited to stage few kindergarten students to address a welcome message to the presents in Armenian and Arabic.
Mrs Daoud, on her turn, mentioned: "Today, we are, once more, greatful to our Lord for our children, because they have artistic instructors, who teach them to see beauty and usefullness in everything. God saw great potential in the dust of the ground: He formed the man from the dust of the ground. Today, the work of our children shows how unwanted items can be, with little imagination and without much cost, artworks".
Besides presenting their creativity, several kindergarten students participated to the program in singing songs related to the Spring. After which, Mr. Gregoire Kaloust, the executive director of Mesrobian High School gave a speech where he specially thanked Mrs Maria Beugekian and the other kindergarten instructors for their selfless efforts to teach Mesrobian children ethical and human values. He expressed his deepest emotions towards this original exhibition. He also thanked World Vision for their initiative and Mrs. Maguy Daoud, for her selfless maternal efforts towards Mesrobian, without forgetting the efforts she made for the success of Nursing School, where Mesrobian technical students study absolutely for free.
Following that, Mr. Gregoire welcomed DMS Onlus president and his wife, Professor Angelo and Doctor Barbara Bozio, who are here with their children to sponsor the benevolent gala banquet dedicated to the new
"Adopt a Student" program that will occur on the 8th of April. The DMS Onlus organization, a faithful Mesrobian friend, has donated several times to Mesrobian helping to realize several projects that help the students financially and academically.
Mgr. Vartan Ashkarian, in his turn, presented souvenirs to Mrs. Daoud, Prof. Angelo, Dr. Barbara and their children.
