On Wednesday, 22 February 2006, under the high patronage of His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX Catholicos Patriarch of Cilicia of Armenian Catholics, Mesrobian High School and St. Savior Church organized a joint commemoration of Vartanants Day.
Guy Manoukian, the well-known Lebanese Armenian artist, played a musical piece on piano, after which he called Ms. Aline Khachadourian to stage to perform the "Zartir Vortiag" ("Wake-up my son") song with her in a very unique way. The Armenian Catholic Church choir Plpoul, St. Savior Church choir Ardzivian, Hamazkayin Knar dance group as well as Mesrobian High School students took part in the ceremony by performing Armenian national songs, Armenian folkloric dance, as well as Armenian traditional poetry "Asmounk".
In the middle of the artistic program, The Lebanese parliament depute, Hagop Pakradouni, addressed a speech to the audience, where he mentioned that the Armenians around the world are living nowadays a national backward retreat. He encouraged the young Armenian generation to come together and fight for the freedom of the unified Armenia.
The artistic program ended with the new "Mesrobian Song". "Mesrobian Song" is a new musical composition having its words by Vartan Tashjian and music by Seto Baghdasarian. The Lebanese Armenian Singers Manouk Minassian, Shake Baghdassarian, and Hratch Gaydzaguian performed the song with Mesrobian High School students. In his speech, His Beatitude Nerses Bedros XIX, addressed the audience to be careful and awake, to keep the faith of Jesus Christ alive from the attacks of "Hazguerds" of nowadays who are dressed up like sheep but are wolves from inside. The ceremony ended with the Lord's Prayer.
