On May 6, 2006, as it is a Mesrobian yearly tradition, a group of students, representing Mesrobian High School, visited the Martyrs' Monument in Bourj Hammoud, along with Mr. Garo Tarayan - general supervisor of the secondary classes, and Mrs. Garine Tashjian - responsible of the extracurricular affairs of the school.
The group placed a crown of flowers as sign of respect to the lebanese armenian martyrs who fell during the civil war of Lebanon.
Speaking to the students, Mrs. Garine Tashjian explained the significance of the monument and gave some important historical facts. Although the Armenians living during the Lebanese civil war were determined to not participate in the war, they incurred several young martyrs.
