On October 4, the principal of Armenian Catholic Mesrobian High School convened parent meetings, during which Dr. Colette Aoun, the academic advisor to the School’s principal, introduced the parents to the reforms to be implemented in the education system.

A triennial program, whose aim is to radically change the education system in the School, is being implemented. The reforms will be the following: Teaching English language in the kindergarten, adding ‘’Manners and Good Behavior’’ Course to the curriculum, boosting the significance of Computer Science courses for all grades, use of technology in teaching, and teaching technological subjects and ‘’Robotics’’ (in collaboration with STEM and the Little Engineer). Moreover, significant reforms will be made in the exams, written tests and evaluation procedures, in order to keep the students away from unnecessary stress.

The project’s manager is Dr. Colette Aoun, Professor of Pedagogy at St. Joseph University, Methodologist for Teaching and Teacher Training Specialist. Dr. Aoun announced the details of the program, and also presented the expectations of the School from the parents for the successful implementation of the reform, while giving a set of recommendations.

School’s Principal Gregoire Kaloust stated that the parental cooperation is of crucial significance in the implementation of the new education system. He encouraged the parents to address the School’s principal without hesitation for the facilitation of the difficulties related to the program and to make suggestions.
